I started oil painting about 2005 with the encouragement of my very talented artist friend Viki Whitmer. I was lucky enough to find just the right teacher for me, Susan Ashurst, who worked with me for about 6 months. I would love to find a gallery for the stacks of wonderful paintings she has in her studio.

I see life with the eyes of an artist now, which has improved the beauty of everything I see. I love oils with their forgiving nature and spectacular variety of strong colors. I hope I still have 20 years to improve. I try to paint most days, if not in my studio then in my head.

Years ago an artist friend said her instructer advised her to paint a lot and sell cheap until she was famous. So, that is what I plan to do.

CHENONCEAU KITCHEN WINDOW

Chenonceau is a wonderful Chateau in the Loire Valley of France. It was my favorite Chateau of all because it was designed by women. All the rooms had a fresh flower arrangement in it. If I live long enough I will paint other pictures from here. This Chateau had a kitchen with the most wonderful copper pots, kitchen tools and old jars. This is a scene from the kitchen window.
